Introduction Take Two

Welcome to my little blog! Let me introduce myself and tell you a bit of what I'm planning for this site.

Hello! Now for those of you who have already been following me, some of this may be old news, but this is for any new readers out there. This is the second time I have started a blog, and I tend to go by the name of Aslan’s Princess around the internet. But I can just imagine how awkward that nickname can be so if you want to chat you can call me Erika. I will admit that I am a bit paranoid about sharing a lot of details online simply because I have heard too many horror stories involving internet creepers. So I’ll give you some general info, but no details.

Okay, I am a college graduate from a Christian college, certificate holder of two story writing correspondence courses and online course for senior inhome care, and currently two year winner of the NaNoWriMo challenge. I have just started to establish myself on Fanfiction(dot)net, same username as here. I am a daughter, sister, an aunt, and a Bible believing Christian. I enjoy reading (published and fanfiction), writing stories, and drawing.

The reading will be the main focus of this blog, most being in the fantasy genre though I may toss in some sci-fi or parables along the way. From the time I was little, fairytales always fascinated me. The magic of mystical beings and the beautiful portrayal of true love enchanted me. I grew up on such Disney classics as Cinderella, Aladdin, Sleeping Beauty, and Beauty and the Beast. As I grew older, I loved searching for the various versions of these tales, even finding some of the older more original tellings. The same was true for classics outside of Disney, such as The Swan Princess and Thumbelina. Even before I could read, I was introduced to the land of Narnia. These tales and many more have become as close to me as dear friends, even other stories that I have since discovered in my teen and young adult years.

It is this love of fantasy, and an active imagination, that prompted me to create my own tales of magic. Every so often, I’ll be sharing with you what I have been working on. This may be character interviews, giving you a peek into the world where they live, or (once in a great long while) a sneak peek into one of the chapters.

Most of the stories I’ll be reviewing are published works. Some will hold magic and mystical creatures, or they just have talking animals. An occasional book may find its way into a review just because it is a classic that I enjoyed while growing up. I hope to get my act together and do posts that focus on an author, most likely around their birthday or the anniversary of their most famous book getting published. A rare post will be reviews of well-written fanfiction. I have come across numerous unpublished authors who write beautiful stories and they deserve to be read as well. (Special bonus if you love the characters they are playing with and you want to know more.) When I review this works, I hope to not only review the story but to also include thoughts from the author about what inspired them to write that story and just fanfiction in general.

Well, I’ll just wrap it up here. Please, feel free to explore the site. If there are any pages that are not currently coming up for any reason, please understand that at the publishing of this post, I am still trying to transfer over from my old blogsite. If this has continued for a few months now . . . just drop me a message and I’ll see if there’s something that can be done.

Oh, and please, feel free to comment on any of my posts. I would love to hear your thoughts and whether you have read these stories yourself or if I have gotten you interested in checking them out.

Until next time. Bye!
