Week two of NaNoWriMo. My work schedule is making it a little more interesting this year, and making me wish I had a tablet for the long hours I don’t have my laptop available. Yes, a notebook and pen work awesome. It is just the transferring over that is starting to drive me crazy. Well, something to work on/take care of before next year.
Now my title quote isn’t from Aladdin, even if that is at least half of my story idea. I had a relaxing evening with a friend as we attended a church’s production of Beauty and the Beast Broadway. We had a wonderful time experiencing one of the greatest fairytales of all. I took great joy in seeing this interpretation of the tale, having seen two different highschools perform it. (Hoping to maybe see it done professionally? One of a handful of Broadway shows and different ballets that I would love to see performed.) Anyway.
Plot wise for my project, for those familiar with Disney’s animated or live action Aladdin, I am currently when Aladdin sings the “One Jump Ahead Reprise.” I found recreating the scene for the first version of the song to be fun and a little challenging. I wasn’t sure if I wanted to actually include the song word for word and line by line. I think it would have been even more challenging if I had actually done that and a bit more confusing, no matter which film I based the scenarios off of. So I just followed the actions and scene changes and did my best to weave in some of the song lyrics as I thought best. Once I start posting it on FanFiction, you can feel free to tell me if you think I did good or not. :-)
After I get the Reprise scene finished, I will be continuing on to Jasmine meeting Prince Anders from the live action. Hopefully I’ll be in the Cave of Wonders by next week or maybe even managed to translate Robin William’s performance of “Friend Like Me.” Now that will be a challenge. We’ll just have to see.
As of the writing of this post I have written a grand total of 11,672 words.
Until next time.
