What could be better than going to the Happiest Place on Earth, aka Disney World? In my opinion, going to Sight and Sound Theatres with family. That’s what I did this weekend. For the first time since my grandma passed, I went to Sight and Sound with extended family (Papa and cousins).
Leaving early in the morning, we arrived in enough time to wonder around and pick out souvenirs. For me, a DVD of the first Christmas show from them that I saw live, the soundtrack for the current show, and carving from an olive tree in Israel. As we got ready to find our seats we got the theatres’ signature glazed almonds, some delicious cookies, and a couple bottled waters to share. Us kids (yes, when I’m with my cousins, I officially consider myself a kid ‘cause I’m a grandkid) sat in one of the front rows while the grownups sat in the balcony.
As always, it was amazing. Like many times in the past, Sight and Sound looked to the Scriptures and imagined possibilities that I never would have considered. Peter and Andrew not getting along with James and John and vice versa. Lazarus being younger than his sisters, Mary and Martha. We actually got to see Peter’s wife and son. We watched the Good Shepherd seek out those who were lost and rescue them. We witnessed the holy Son of God writhe in agony as the sins of the entire world from all time settled down upon Him. We were given equal opportunity to worship and grieve in turn throughout the show. (There is a minor dispute of whether or not a little wave from Jesus was appropriate for a certain moment or not. (All in fun.) :-)) Admittedly, I had to keep myself from totally “squee”-ing at some of the best moments. (I have to be at least half an adult when I’m in public. <rolls eyes>) Even halfway through I had decided that I was looking forward to being able to buy the DVD, simply to experience it again.
I know, I know. Not much about writing and nothing fantasy. (For anyone who doesn’t believe in the Bible, this is my heartfelt belief and Jesus is the One Who helped me through both my grandma’s cancer and her death. Please, be respectful.) But, like the Fellowship found peace and rest in Lothlorien, I found peace and rest with my family and in a dramatic performance that I believe was thoroughly blessed by God. And now as I write this, it is late evening, the rest of the “kids” are playing a game, the grown-ups are on the couch, and the two family dogs are running around, trying to catch up on their attention deficiency they got from being alone all day. We’re recovering and having a perfect ending to an amazing day.
Oh, and if you ever get the chance, go to Sight and Sound for one of their shows. You won’t be sorry. :-)
In my progress report, I have written over 46,000 words and hope to reach 50,000 within the next few days. Thus ends my second to last NaNoWriMo post.
Until next time. Bye.
