It may be tempting to draw out your wait for the review of the final Spectrum Chronicle book like my wait. But I won’t. So if you don’t want spoilers of any kind for the previous books, stop here. If you don’t mind, come and follow me.

It has been nearly two weeks since Consuela heard anything from Wander, her kidnaped love, and the Avenger is about to make its first stop in its quest. From there they intend to travel to the planet Yalla and from that planet find the system where Wander is being held. Unfortunately, the Hegemony is searching for Consuela and is suspicious and the Avenger, forcing Consuela, her friend, Rick, and several other members of the crew to slip away undetected. Now they have to find another way to Yalla, all the while trying to keep their secrets of their true purpose to themselves. Wander and Digs are waiting and longing for the rescue Consuela will bring. But they and other Talents like them in the Citadel are being pushed to and beyond their limits. Overtime on shifts, searching for something but not being told what. Rumors and gossip abound, but there is nothing solid. Tensions are starting to run high. Wander is anxious. He hasn’t been able to contact Consuela, not even where they agreed upon during her journey. Will things fall apart so badly that Wander and Consuela will never see each other again? Can Consuela, Rick, and the crew from the Avenger manage to evade the Hegemony? Where do Consuela and Rick belong? Their world or this new, exciting world? Will Consuela and Wander ever be reunited? Ah. The final book of the Spectrum Chronicles series and the conclusion of this science fiction adventure. Here is where The Dream Voyagers would get its ultimate climax and finale. For those who enjoy space battles, there are a few for your enjoyment, along with a sport similar to snowboarding. Thanks to the introduction of some new characters, the reader gets to see a sci-fi culture with faint echoes of the Middle East/Persian culture.

I will admit that when I first read this book, I found myself in a state of confusion. I’m sure I can mostly blame that on the length of time between the reading of Path Finder and Heart Chaser. I suspect that when I grant myself the opportunity to read all three in quick succession I won’t be so confused. Most confusion came from my forgetting some secondary characters and their names/positions. One character even seemed to have mellowed out and/or be portrayed younger than I had thought in the book before. Again, it was possibly because of the long distance of time in addition to my not being accustomed to science fiction at the time. T. Davis Bunn published this book under his penname, Thomas Locke. This tale was told over 155 pages divided by 24 chapters and an epilogue. For a rating, I would give this story four dragons out of five. The story is complete, yet there seemed to be various strings that were left tangled or just hanging. Still, I would recommend this book to any interested in science fiction and/or love stories. Though few, I will admit that there is a sweet, sappy moment or two. And if you have already read all the others in the series, why leave it unfinished? Go find the final book. “I’m coming,” is not, I repeat, NOT the way to finish a love story. (Okay, yes. Lingering frustration still existent. Can you blame me though? Worst pet peeve: unfinished stories. Ugh!) So find Heart Chaser and finish the series if you started it. So long as you want to. :-)

Until next time. Bye!
